Rothman\, DMD \nThis course will review the current practice and recommendations for pediatric minimal and moderate sedation. Understanding your patient and their family is key as is utilizing both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies for successful sedations.  We will begin with a basis in psychology\, physiology and pharmacology and progress through monitoring\, drug selection and office protocols. Despite best practice\, sedation and medical emergencies can and will happen. A review of identification and immediate intervention will round out the course. This eight-hour course is structured to meet many states’ requirements for renewal of sedation permits.  Please check with your state board for applicability.  \nThe Course Includes:  \n\nGuidelines\, Laws and Regulations \nChoosing the Child for Sedation \nAnatomic and Physiologic Differences of Child v. Adult \nPharmacology and Drug Interactions \nLocal Anesthesia as an Adjunct to Pediatric Sedations \nDocuments and Documentation \nMonitors and Monitoring \nSedation Drug Choices/Pros and Cons \nPost-treatment and Discharge Criteria \nEmergency Preparedness\, Protocols and Intervention\n\n  \n“Another Frontier\, The Glass Ionomer Family: An Alternate Material to Consider for the treatment of Caries in Primary Teeth” \nBy Jed Best\, DDS\, MS \nSince the February 2022 issue of Clinicians Report\, the use of Resin Modified Glass Ionomers and conventional Glass Ionomers as restorative materials for primary teeth has been a topic of conversation. SUMMARY:The Tipping Point: When Hard Work Negatively Impacts Success
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Presented by Tarryn MacCarthy\, DMD \nAs high-achieving\, success-driven orthodontists we are no strangers to hard work. It is\, in fact\, what got us to where we are and to the excellence we promise to our patients. Hard work and perseverance do have a deleterious impact\, however\, when chronic sympathetic nervous system stimulation erodes our ability to access our prefrontal cortex. We lose our ability to make educated\, ingenuitive\, and compassionate decisions from an empowered perspective. Your overwhelm and stress are sirens from your nervous system that you are living in a sympathetic nervous system storm. You have stepped over the Tipping Point. At this point simply “pushing through” is the worst thing you can do. In this presentation\, Dr. Tarryn MacCarthy will introduce the critical importance of Conscious Awareness and strengthening your Vagal Tone to recover from stress both in and out of the office. You will be introduced to The Empowered Mind Model\, an in-the-moment practice to reclaim your power over your own reactivity. Learn from Dr. MacCarthy’s expertise in positive psychology\, neurolinguistic programming\, hypnotherapeutic technique\, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and from her unique perspective after 20 years as an Orthodontist and Business Owner. Understand why YOUR HAPPINESS is the precursor to your success (and not the other way around). \nLearning Objectives: \nDiscover the difference between a reaction and a response\nLearn how to choose how you respond to ANY event\, comment\, patient reaction\, team member\, circumstance\, or stimulus\nUnderstand why YOUR HAPPINESS is the precursor to your success (and not the other way around) \nDate: Wednesday\, September 20\, 2023 \nTime: 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM\, CENTRAL \nLocation: Live Webinar via Zoom \nCE Credit: 2 hours \nCancellation Deadline: Tuesday\, September 19\, 2023 \nRegistration Price: $40 for SWSPD Members / $90 for Non-Members[/vc_column_text]Click here to sign up for the meeting! Host of The Business of Happiness Podcast\, she is an Orthodontist\, Author\, Keynote Speaker\, Dental Life Coach\, and Rapid Transformational Therapist. The one thing she couldn’t run from was herself. \nWhat followed was a journey of reclamation of the self she had disconnected from decades earlier. 5 years later she would go on to open a scratch-start practice and grow it to be the largest Invisalign practice in her state. After 23 years in clinical dentistry\, she now coaches other leaders on reconnecting to themselves to step into their true power. \nIn her unparalleled program\, “Radical Happiness”\, she teaches how to harness the power within.
