Rothman\, DMD \nThis course will review the current practice and recommendations for pediatric minimal and moderate sedation. Understanding your patient and their family is key as is utilizing both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies for successful sedations.  We will begin with a basis in psychology\, physiology and pharmacology and progress through monitoring\, drug selection and office protocols. Despite best practice\, sedation and medical emergencies can and will happen. A review of identification and immediate intervention will round out the course. This eight-hour course is structured to meet many states’ requirements for renewal of sedation permits.  Please check with your state board for applicability.  \nThe Course Includes:  \n\nGuidelines\, Laws and Regulations \nChoosing the Child for Sedation \nAnatomic and Physiologic Differences of Child v. Adult \nPharmacology and Drug Interactions \nLocal Anesthesia as an Adjunct to Pediatric Sedations \nDocuments and Documentation \nMonitors and Monitoring \nSedation Drug Choices/Pros and Cons \nPost-treatment and Discharge Criteria \nEmergency Preparedness\, Protocols and Intervention\n\n  \n“Another Frontier\, The Glass Ionomer Family: An Alternate Material to Consider for the treatment of Caries in Primary Teeth” \nBy Jed Best\, DDS\, MS \nSince the February 2022 issue of Clinicians Report\, the use of Resin Modified Glass Ionomers and conventional Glass Ionomers as restorative materials for primary teeth has been a topic of conversation.
