“Another Frontier, The Glass Ionomer Family: An Alternate Material to Consider for the treatment of Caries in Primary Teeth”

By Jed Best, DDS, MS

Since the February 2022 issue of Clinicians Report, the use of Resin Modified Glass Ionomers and conventional Glass Ionomers as restorative materials for primary teeth has been a topic of conversation. This talk will discuss the history of these two classes of materials, their use in pediatric dentistry, and their unique role in preventive dentistry. Finally, most interestingly, I will discuss an alternative way of command setting Glass Ionomers that may decrease the setting time and increase its use in clinical dentistry.
