Title: “Plethora of Oral Lesions I Caught From Pediatric Dentists During the Pandemic”

This pandemic has been a topsy-turvy experience for all of us and many children are caught in the middle of this chaos. Overall, this age group has escaped the severe manifestations and outcomes of COVID-19 infection; however, there is no detour around the multiple and potentially toxic stressors experienced during the pandemic. This course will explore the latest oral findings associated with COVID-19 infection, including long-haul COVID, and discuss what other diseases that they mimic in youth. It will also focus on a wide range of stress-induced and other common oral conditions that children are experiencing, along with the best management approaches. A wide variety of new lesions, the latest updates on common entities, and evidence-based treatments will round out the discussion. A case-based format will illustrate consults from pediatric dentists during this challenging time when access to care was restricted. Course participants are encouraged to submit examples of oral and facial lesions that they have detected for an interactive and practical conversation.

Objectives
  • Review the oral manifestations of COVID-19 infection and its sequelae in children.
  • Diagnose a variety of common oral lesions in children that dentists detected during the pandemic.
  • Select the best management approaches for the child-patient.
